How to disable Pop-Up Blocker

Pop-up blockers allow you to control what happens as you travel the web and prevent sites from filling your desktop with pop-up windows you do not want or need. Now all modern browsers have pop-up blockers. And the cyber-world is a better, neater place for it.

Many sites use pop-ups to provide more detail about a product or require users to open them to take full advantage of the data they make available. In some cases you need to turn offyour browser's pop-up blocker to get everything out of your Web experience. But sometimes disabling your blocker is easier said than done.

Here's How To:

1. Internet Explorer

If your pop-up blocker is turned on (IE's blocker is on by default) and you go to a site that has pop-ups, an information bar (red arrow) will appear at the top of your browser window telling you a pop-up has been blocked.

Clicking on the information bar will let you
  • temporarily allow pop-ups (from this site only),
  • always allow pop-ups from this site, or
  • adjust the pop-up blocker settings.
If you chose to temporarily allow pop-ups, that permission will expire when you close down your browser.
If you want to permanently disable the pop-up blocker in IE;
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select "Tools" from the main menu
  3. Select "Pop-up Blocker" from the Tools menu
  4. Select "Turn Off Pop-up Blocker" (red arrow)

2. Google Chrome

If your pop-up blocker is turned on (Chrome also turns it on by default) and the site you are on tries to send a pop-up, an icon that looks like a browser bar with a red 'x' will appear in your address bar (red arrow).
Clicking on the icon will allow you to
  • always allow pop-ups from this site
  • continue blocking pop-ups, or
  • manage pop-up blocking
If you want to permanently disable pop-up blocking in Chrome:
  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Select "Settings" from the Chrome menu

  3. Select the "Show advanced settings..." link at the bottom of that page

  4. Select "Content settings..." from the Privacy section

  5. Select "Allow all sites..." radio button from Pop-ups section
  6.

 3. Mozilla Firefox

To completely disable the pop-up blocker, go to Tools > Options > Content and uncheck Block pop-up windows
